Porn biz done well

I should just give up and work for the adult industry directly and earn my stripes there instead of doing the whole indirect trafficing of porn I’ve done in the past two jobs. It’s amazing at the sheer infrastructure needed to support porn. Servers that can serve up hundreds of megabits of web traffic, backend billing (if Visa even talks to you), management software, and whatever else is needed. It used to be, you could get a digital camera, a slut, take pictures in a hotel and you were set. That was also 1995. Nowadays you have to build an entire business model around your slut, keep up with copyright requirements, promote her, figure out how to bill other people for looking at her, keep the credit card companies happy, fend off people who copy your stuff and post it for free elsewhere, hire and manage people to support your slut — on top of competing with the other sluts’ businesses!

Billing for your adult services is a huge unsolved problem. Somebody thinks they have it solved, then the public gets uptight about it and that method of payment gets shut down or a real pain to work with. I don’t know if I’m clever enough to come up with a long term solution to billing. It’d be too bad if it was finally a solved problem and there were no more sluts to go around.

My grand idea is to bring the billing functionality of 1-900 numbers to DNS. Whenever somebody resolves www.myslut.com, the clock (and therefore, the bill) starts ticking and gets billed to their monthly ISP bill. I’ll not worry about the details, I’m sure I can hire some really clever people who subscribe to my idea that can make it happen. Damn, I’ll probably need to learn how to work with Oracle too.
