H&K USP .40

I fired a Glock 23 last night and a HK USP .40 today. I really liked the feel of the Glock, the levers and whatnot were accessible and didn’t require a lot of force. Glocks are also relatively cheap, a used 22 or 23 could be had for $450 or so. Unfortunately the lack of […]

Gun shopping

I’m in the market for a semi-automatic pistol. I went to the promising local gun range and fired a few boxes through a Beretta 92FS and a Sig Sauer 220 45 ACP. I’m looking for a .40 or .45, so that rules the 92FS out. However I’ll miss that 15 cartridge magazine on larger calibers. […]

Krav Maga

Yay, I survived Krav Maga tonight. After my last class I was dreading this like a dental appointment, but made it through participating the whole hour. I almost have jump rope mastered. I had a partner that was my height and I learned how to better pace my effort. I got winded and dizzy several […]

wtf, shoppers

So I went to the grocery store for the first time in a couple of months, there’s something new. Shopping cars with cupholders. WTF? Fatass americans can’t go shopping for more food to make them even fatter and plagued with disease without chugging on a Coke now?

Long live email

I don’t get it. Why do people depend on a site like MySpace to send messages back and forth to friends? E-mail has been a solved problem since the 1960s. I haven’t figured out the advantage, other than concealing your true e-mail address. Anyone?

IAD

I popped out for a overnight trip to Virginia, back home again! The airline system was fraught with problems. The AUS->IAD was scheduled to leave at 3:30 PM, then 5:30, then 8:00, then 9:05, then 9:57. It kept getting pushed back because other planes were delayed due to the weather. I got to AUS around […]

I hate Radio Shack

Radio Shack is completely useless these days. That is all. Where’s a guy got to go to buy twenty five feet of RG-58A/U cable without driving to north Austin?

No more Giardia

My symptoms finally cleared up, so I’m either rid of the parasites or they’ve gone dormant and are waiting to strike me down again when I’m least expecting it. I lost five pounds in three days and have kept it off, yay for the parasite weight loss plan. I bought a toolbox for my truck. […]

No you can’t have a Land Rover

I’m all for making obscure jokes. This one just happens to be two years too late. Ok, that was /really/ obscure — only like five people got the funny (fortunately, the ones it was intended for), the rest were “uh, heh heh?” The Land Rover picture is a parody of the “No you can’t have […]

Don’t eat the snow

I finally broke down and went to see a doctor. She thinks I have a giardia infestation and prescribed a few days of nitazoxanide pills. Awesome to think I have those little suckers leeching off my intestinal tract; I’m my own petri dish. Nitazoxanide is supposed to be effective at killing them, but there’s a […]
